• find general information about schools in Essex by selecting 'Primary School Admission Booklets ' or 'Secondary School Admission Booklet' on the left. The booklets tell you what to do if your child is starting school for the first time or is transferring from primary to secondary school;
• view information about individual schools, their admission areas and arrangements, OFSTED reports and exam results. Please phone 0845 603 2200 if you want to check the admission area you live in. Select 'Primary School Information' or 'Secondary School Information' on the left;
• make an online application, or download, complete and send a paper application form. Please do not do both.

If your child has a statement of Special Educational Needs select the SEN link on the right as the process is different.

Online applications open 6 September 2010; close - 31 October 2010.
Starting school for the first time
Online applications open 8 November 2010; close - 15 January 2011.

We send information for Year 7 entry via primary schools in early September and for Starting School to parents at the end of October.
